On 25th april, around 12 noon, i was at home in chandigarh when i got this news on Facebook that a big big earthquake has jolted entire north India & Nepal. It was reported a 7.9 richter scale earthquake whose epicenter was 80 km. away from Nepal's capital Kathmandu. A few people on Facebook started posting statuses & comments about the intensity of earthquake they felt in chandigarh, but frankly speaking, i didn't feel anything. I immediately switched on the T.V and they were already showing the effected areas and initial damage done by this earthquake. Initially, there were reports of around 100 deaths. But it was just the initial numbers.
On other side, there is greed of domination, control & economic advantage from this disaster. India, China, America are superpowers and when they help countries like Nepal, the don't do it without any interest. They all have their interests . India wants to show china that it is better connected to Nepal and take Nepal's confidence & same wants China. Under this economic and social aid, India wants Nepal to come under it's influence so that poor Nepalese could be exploited in future. America wants to make a base in Nepal so that it can keep an eye on China & India, two of its main counterparts. The financial aid is given to govt. of Nepal, not directly to the People of Nepal. So, people of Nepal could be left with nothing at the end of the day.
I want to ask the people running the govt. & others to tell what has Indian govt. done to provide shelter & relief to the effected areas of India like Bihar, West Bengal etc ? The answer would be, Nothing. All the media is busy in covering big news in Nepal and people in India will be directly neglected by govt.

By the evening, the toll kept on rising and more and more footage and reports were coming and then i realized the scale of disaster was far more than my expectations. Indian govt. led by Mr. Modi came into quick action and relief was sent to Nepal by the evening. More announcements on relief material & rehabilitation of nepal were made in next two days. The frequency of helicopters taking relief was increased and a 'Blank Cheque' (according to my knowledge) was presented by Indian govt. to Nepal.
People of Nepal are in need of food, shelter & clothing & many countries have come up for their help including China, America, Spain etc. when Mr. Modi visited Nepal after the formation of new govt., he said that nepal was India's closest & best friend. It was time for Mr. Modi to help a friend in trouble & certainly, he did that & for his efforts he was appreciated by his fellowmen & even international leaders. By seeing his efforts, one feels that Nepal will soon stand back on its feet. But, It's just one side of the coin. I am not asking govt. to not help Nepal in rehabilitation, but I want the govt. to do the service for the sake of Humanity, not for the sake of Dirty Politics. Only then can we proudly say that we have been a good neighbor.
